You may learn a few things…..but you will never achieve the level of black belt training that comes from studying with a qualified teacher.

Dude this has been around since the 50’s!!! I used to see it in Comic books as a kid, learn Karate or Kung Fu.
Yes they are real, but NO they are not REAL Black Belts that are being created, that is impossible by a book or DVD. You have to have a real person teach you. Simple as that.
Some people though do not care and only want rank and status and will join these so they can call themselves a black belt, we have one here #3 on our list is a book bb & troll and thinks he is for real. There are many like that out there. Just beware of them and avoid them for there is no winning a debate with them for a liar is a liar no matter what angle they take! A Fake is also a Fake no matter how you look at it too.
So sadly this has been going on for many decades now. Check an old comic from the 50 or 60’s and you will see what I mean.

Unfortunately, they do, in fact, exist. The premise is this:
You buy the tapes, follow the training instructions, and then videotape yourself executing the techniques. Then you ship the tapes, with any written testing that may be required, to the “governing” body responsible for managing the program. If you have demonstrated sufficient ability to perform the technique (translation: if you paid a high enough price for the program, and submit the requisite fees for the “testing”) you are notified that you may advance in rank to the next belt level. Depending on how much space you have, and how good you are at discerning the technique from watching a tape and mimicking what you see, you can actually progress from totally unskilled in Martial arts to being “legitimately” able to call yourself a Black Belt in your chosen (paid for) style.
From what I hear, some of the more popular organizations providing these services are:
CPMAA – Couch Potato Martial Arts Association
BBMAF – Backyard Brawler Martial Arts Federation
MABFI – Martial Arts Black Belt Factory International (special discount for thrid wolrd applicants)
HKFPL – High Kick Flashy Punch League
WWMAIF – Wish I Was a Martial Artist International Foundation
I’m sure there are others, but these, from what I understand, are the most popular, and award black belts in the shortest amount of time.

That’s bull, they are not learning correctly.
My grandmaster is an 8th degree black belt straight from Korea. In order to learn correctly you need a teacher and you need other people to spar with.
I feel lucky to have such a good teacher.
finding a good teacher is key

It is all about taking money from inept and unwitting people who want to be karate masters, but don’t want to go to an actual school.
