To get your first black belt, it takes 2½-3 years in Tak Won Do or basic karate.

considering a few things, how often does the school grade for belts (every 3 months? every 6 months? )
how much do you practice? could you pass the belt grading?
how well do you know your katas?
how many belts to go through? does the school use stripes between belts (three stripe yellow belt before grading before orange)
basically you should’nt worry about ‘getting’ a black belt, but enjoying learning everything to get there. besides, a 1st black belt is just the beginning anyway.
a few years anyway

It solely depends on how often you get tested for each belt. Generally, it takes about 2.5 to 3 years, or maybe less, if you skip a belt.
To get one, you basically have to learn your main kicks/punches/stances until they almost become second nature. Then, you can build up on your techniques.
The more practice, the fancier you can make them.
Also, you need a consistent level of stamina and endurance, but it will build up as you go through the levels of belts.
It’s pretty fun!

It depend on how fast you gfet tested for each different belt ranking.
Usually the TKD school has different ranking systems.
Letme paste some of them for you:
Thanks for your time, and Good Luck on the Black Belt.

If you go to a reputable school, you are looking at roughly 4 1\2 to 5 years. McDojos can speed you along in about 3 years. Check out the history of the instructors and the school. See what else is taught in the school. We also teach Hapkido, Judo and Ju Jitsu. This way all of our students have a well rounded self defense experience also.
Ask to watch some classes before joining. Ask to take some free classes to. A good school will be more than happy to do this and more for any prospective students. Talk to the instructor also.
A few attributes that you will need for your journey to black belt are: patience, respect, humility, perseverance, the want to improve yourself and basically a good attitude.
Remember this. A good school is invaluable, a bad school will taint your outlook on Tae Kwon Do. Last bit of advice, watch out for McDojos. Anything worth doing and doing right, will take time to learn. Generally more then 3 years. Good luck. E-mail me if you have any more questions.

You can “get” a black belt in as little as nine months if you want. To “earn” a black belt takes years, and it shouldn’t be less than three. If you have the desire to be a respectable black belt in TKD, you need to find a good school and be ready to put in some time. Look at as many schools as possible in your area, and be wary of schools with a lot of little kids running around in black belts. To earn the belt you will need to be proficient in the basics, as well as learn the schools curriculum. Some schools require learning 8 forms. Ours requires at least 20. Some schools require tournament experience. So you’ll need to ask a lot of questions before joining a school. Just make sure that the school is offering what you want before joining.
Best of luck.

You can buy one online right now, so 3-5 shipping days would be about how long it takes.
No matter what style you choose, make it a school that doesn’t focus on belts and testing. Learn the mechanics of defense, offense. Train hard, be a sponge and learn all you can. The silly belt color will change over time when you are ready not sooner. And to reinforce what one of the other answers said; a reputable school would not be promoting folks to BB in 2 years.

How long it takes to get a black belt in TKD is related to how fast you can fork over the money to the school. TKD is the most commercialized of all the martial arts, and notorious for not only excesive rank testings in order to make profit from testing fees and belt purchases, but also has the worst rep on handing out blackbelts to makle students happy. After all, happy students = $$$.
I’d recommend staying clear of TKD, and searching out other schools (arts). In the end, balance what they offer with what they are charging for it., Don’t be afraid to ask questions involving money, like testing fees, belt fees, registration fees, organizations fees, etc.

In some schools as little as 1 year, but those are black belt mills mostly. Average in America is 2-5 years, regardless of skill level.

At a reputable school anywhere from 5 years. At a McDojo on the other hand they’ll probably push you through in 2 years. The problem with that approach is that those schools dumb down their testing so pretty much any one can pass. Be wary of any school that cranks out 8 year old blackbelts by the truckload. Those schools aren’t teaching self defense they’re selling a fashion accesory. One which will get your ass kicked up and down the street if you ever have to really use it.
Take your time and worry about learning to do it the right way rather than about rankings.

In taekwondo, getting a black belt has many factors. I am actually a second degree black belt. It took me about 3 years to get it. It usually depends on your style of taekwondo, your physical ability, and your schedule. You can do more research on my style of taekwondo at:www.ataonline.com.There are many ATA schools all around the World.Well, good luck with your decision about starting tkd or not, hopefully you will choose to do it.

It depends on how fast you learn, and if you have the money to test.
